Right before your eyelids flutter open

With a vision too dazed and a heart too heavy;

Right before the beams of light gently dancing with the curtains

Touch your eyes, when you stand on the very

Cusp of gaining consciousness- you feel something

You’ve never felt before.

There is a man in your dreams, who holds you,

talks to you.

His voice is soft- nothing to be alarmed about.

His touch is void of anger, grief, or lust.

As you rise from your dreams, you sit quietly,

Delicately; clutching the fabric of your sheets:

You do not know this feeling.

You stare ahead in a mindless abyss,

Too fragile to stir, too frail to be woken from your dreams-

Or your visions?

Gripping the skin of your own arm, taking in your own scent,

There is not much you can do.

But when you shall leave, leave ever so carefully-

Gently, for that is the place that you felt the pieces of your dreams die.

Love is an immense word after all.

All you can wish for is to be understood.
